Thallus pale orange, greenish yellow to yellow-white or olive-green, thin, smooth to verrucose; soredia and isidia absent. Apothecia common, scattered, ±rounded, sessile, constricted at the base, 0.5–1.0 mm wide; disc orange to pale orange-brown, weakly concave or plane; margin distinct to rather thin, concolorous with the disc or rarely somewhat paler; disc and margin K+ purple; proper exciple of radiating agglutinated hyphae, the outer layer encrusted with anthraquinone crystals, colourless within. Epihymenium encrusted with yellow or orange anthraquinone crystals. Hymenium not inspersed, colourless, 80–100 μm thick; hypothecium yellow to pale brown. Asci 8-spored, very rarely with 6 ascospores, 60–80 × 12–18 μm. Ascospores ellipsoidal, straight to slightly curved, transversely septate, with 6–8 lens-shaped locules, 17–29 × 8–11 μm. Conidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Thallus and apothecia K+ purple; both containing fragilin (major), parietin (minor), ±7-chloroemodin (trace), ±7-chlorofallacinal (trace), ±7-chloroteloschistin (trace), ±7-chloroparietinic acid (trace), ±fragilin bisanthrone (trace), dioxodidymic acid and 8-chlorodioxodidymic acid (major), dioxocondidymic acid and 8-chlorodioxocondidymic acid (major), letrouitic acid (major), oxodidymic acid and 8-chlorooxodidymic acid (major). |

Corticolous in rainforest and coastal forest in south-eastern Qld, but not collected recently. Pantropical-subtropical and common in eastern and southern Asia, Africa and South America. | ||
